Jayz Agnew, at just 13 years old, was in his front yard on November 8, 2022 helping his family rake leaves when he was tragically shot and killed. Unfortunately, this case still has not been solved due to a lack of evidence and his mother, Juanita Agnew, has been working with the county to ensure senseless crimes like this do not happen to other families in the future. Juanita believes if there had been footage of her son’s murder in November, the case could have been solved. With the help of Juanita, the Council approved "Jayz's Bill", legislation that will help residents with the installation of surveillance cameras, free of charge.
The county council recently passed Jayz Agnew’s law because of the senseless and unsolved murder of the 13 year old in our community. The police department and the county council shared with the public that additional surveillance in the community could have both served as a deterrent to the crime but also an aid to help law enforcement gain valuable intelligence to capture the murders. Installing surveillance cameras will help keep our overall communities safer and allow residents to monitor their homes, their families, and other belongings while they are away.
At Joan’s House Inc., We plan to install surveillance cameras that will help keep our overall communities safer and allow residents to monitor their homes, their families, and other belongings while at home or away. Your support can make a difference to a Safer community.
