February 2026

Prince George’s County, MD — Joan’s House, Inc., in partnership with District 8 Councilmember Edward Burroughs III, is proud to announce the launch of the District 8 Young Adult Jobs Program, a transformative workforce development initiative designed to connect young adults ages 18–24 with meaningful, paid employment opportunities across Prince George’s County.

Beginning this February, the program will place more than 275 young adults into paid, 12–16 week positions across a variety of industries, with 100% of wages fully covered. This initiative represents a significant investment in the next generation of workers, leaders, and community members.

Participants will apply, interview, and be selected directly by employers based on readiness and fit—ensuring that placements are both intentional and impactful. To support success, all applicants will receive comprehensive workforce preparation through Joan’s House, including:

“This initiative is about more than just jobs,” said Romel Williams, President and Founder of Joan’s House. “It’s about creating pathways. We are investing in young adults who are eager to work, grow, and build stable futures—especially those who may be underemployed, unemployed, or searching for opportunities in their desired fields.”

The District 8 Young Adult Jobs Program is part of a broader, long-term vision to strengthen the local workforce, support businesses, and create sustainable economic mobility for Prince George’s County residents.

Councilmember Edward Burroughs III has been a key partner in advancing this vision, helping to secure the resources needed to make large-scale workforce access possible for young people in the district.

“We are grateful for the leadership and partnership of Councilmember Burroughs and the District 8 Council,” Williams added. “This investment shows what’s possible when local government and community organizations work together to uplift our young people.”

Looking ahead, Joan’s House plans to expand the program this summer, offering more than 500 paid job opportunities for youth and young adults ages 15–24. This expansion will further extend workforce access to high school students and early-career young adults seeking hands-on experience, professional exposure, and long-term growth opportunities.
