Inspired by the legacy of Marion Barry and rooted in a commitment to economic opportunity, the District 8 Youth & Young Adults Jobs Program is a transformative workforce initiative serving Prince George’s County residents ages 15–24.
Designed to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, this year-round program connects young people to paid internships, hands-on job training, and meaningful career exposure across diverse industries. Beyond employment, participants receive structured professional development, mentorship, and the tools needed to build confidence, competence, and long-term career readiness.
This initiative is made possible through the leadership of Prince George’s County Council Chair Edward Burroughs III, Joan’s House, and a growing network of business and nonprofit partners committed to investing in the next generation of talent right here in our community.
Find the track that fits your journey. Each one is designed to meet you where you are:
Part-time work with job readiness training.
Paid field exposure across skilled industries.
Direct work-based training leading to employment.
Complete the necessary registration, intake form, assessments, and attend group orientation.
Review job postings, apply, and interview with employment partners. Upon an offer of employment, you'll be placed with a business partner based on your interests and readiness.
Participate in work experience, training, mentorship, and coordinator check-ins to succeed.
Our comprehensive program will offer free rotating professional development sessions for all District 8 residents. Topics will include resume writing, financial literacy, mental health, interview skills, and more, led by local experts and partners.
