Senior Citizens Support

We understand the importance of social connections for senior citizens. Joan’s House Inc. organizes regular social events, workshops, and activities that foster bonds between seniors, combating feelings of isolation and loneliness. We provide access to critical resources such as healthcare information, housing support, and financial literacy programs, ensuring that our senior community members enjoy a high quality of life.

Senior Lawn Care Program

Now entering its second year, the Senior Lawn Care Program was created in partnership with Prince George’s County Councilman Edward Burroughs, III to provide free, high-quality lawn maintenance services to senior residents across Prince George’s County.

What began as a pilot program in 2024 has already made a meaningful impact. In our first year alone, 447 seniors received bi-weekly lawn care services, with an estimated value of $831 per household—reducing both the financial and physical burden of yard upkeep for hundreds of families. This seasonal program runs through the end of the grass-growing season (approximately November 15, 2025) and includes routine grass cutting and maintenance every other week.

As we build on the success of Year 1, we are excited to expand our reach while continuing to provide dignified, reliable support for older adults in our community. Participation is limited, so we encourage interested seniors or their loved ones to apply as soon as possible.
